December Wrap-up

The Count down to Christmas!


We have a busy week ahead!

  • We will continue studying letters Aa-Ll this week for reinforcement
  • We are working on mastering identifying numbers 1-10 and putting them in order
  • Your child has learned the importance of knowing his or her street address.  If they can tell me their address they will receive a key change courtesy of the Temple Fire Department

Christmas Party

We will have our class Christmas party Friday December 21,
from 11:00-11:45am
Everyone can wear their Pajamas for a fun filled relaxing day.
I will get all of the supplies that we need if you will please donate $5 to the cause.

December News

     We will be wrapping up our La Tortuga unit as well as

Saxon Math lessons 31-40.

Working on identifying the numbers 0-10 and ordering them appropriately.

Letter of the week Ll

Christmas Program

Don't forget our class Christmas program will be 
Tuesday December 11th.  The program begins at 5:30pm, if your child could be here and in the music room by 5:15pm that would be great.  We will be Shepard's, we have costumes you do not need to provide anything.
 

Santa's Workshop Friday December 14, 8:30-??

We will be rotating through many fun activities this Friday.  Your child will be making many unique crafts to share with families and friends:)  This will be a lot of fun for everyone, if you would like to help please let me know.

Christmas Party Friday December 21, 11:00-11:45am

Look for a sign-up sheet posted outside our classroom.  You are all invited to attend the party as well.

Christmas Program

Don't forget our class Christmas program will be next
Tuesday December 11th.  The program begins at 5:30pm, if your child could be here and in the music room by 5:00pm that would be great.  We will be shepards, we have costumes you do not need to provide anything.

Pampered Chef Parents Plus Fundraiser:

We will be accepting Pampered Chef orders until Monday December 10th. Order sheets should have come home in backpacks yesterday.  You can visit the on-line catalog and we also have catalogs in the office. We will host a mini Pampered Chef demo party on Friday December 7th at 3pm, childcare will be provided.  Items will be in for Christmas and Parents Plus gets 15% of your order total!  They have some great Christmas gifts.

What is your child learning in Math?

We have just started  Saxon lessons 31-40 We will do the following:

  • practice putting # cards 1-10 in order 
  • practice wrtiting the #'s 5 and 6
  • create an ABB sound and movement pattern

What is your child doing in Language Arts?

We are at the continuing our La Tortuga unit

  • We have listened to the tale of La Tortuga, a Mexican folktale.
  • We have started work on our turtle houses

Learning our letters

  • This week we will work on the letter Jj
  • We continue to review A-I as well.

What is your child learning in Math?

We have just started  Saxon lessons 31-40 We will do the following:

  • practice putting # cards 1-10 in order 
  • practice wrtiting the #'s 5 and 6
  • create an AB sound and movement pattern
practice sequencing weekly events

What is your child doing in Language Arts?

We are at the begining La Tortuga unit

  • We will listen to the tale of La Tortuga, a Mexican folktale.
  • We will participate in rhyming games and activities
  • We will act out stories
  • We will learn the concepts of in, on, around, circle and round.
Learning our letters
  • This week we will work on the letter Ii
  • We continue to review A-H as well.

We will be celebrating our "Sharing Feast "on Friday, November 16th.  Our class will be making and serving the dinner rolls.  We would love for you all to join us for the special meal.
    
Everyone is doing great! Your child should have brought home their The Three Bears, book on Monday.  Ask them to tell you the story using the book to guide them. Thank you for sharing your children with me. They are a joy.

What is your child learning in Math?

We have just completed  Saxon lessons 21-30 We did the following:

  • practiced putting # cards 1-5 in order 
  • wrtiting the #'s 3 and 4
  • creating and reading an AB color pattern
  • naming the days of the week 

What is your child doing in Language Arts?

We are at the end of our The Three Bears unit

  • We have listened to the tale of The Three Bears and have read many versions of the classic story
  • We are learning to compare the size of objects and what words to use to describe them.
  • We have sorted items according to size.
  • We are learning the concept of what over means.

Learning our letters

  • As I am sure you know from your child we are working on different letters each week.
  • This week we will work on the letter Hh
  • We continue to review A-G as well.
We will be celebrating the 50th day of school on Thursday, your child may dress up for the occasion 50's style if they wish.  

We will be taking a trip to Walker Park on Friday, to clean up and have some fun! CCS has adopted Walker Park and this will be our first clean-up outing.  We will leave the school around 9am.
  
Everyone is doing great!  Ask your child to tell you the months of the year and the days of the week ; they are very proud of themselves for mastering both.  Thank you for sharing your children with me.  They are a joy.

Happy Monday!

What is your child doing in Language Arts?

  • This week we will reviewing all of the letters we have covered so far this year: Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee, Ff, Gg. 
  • We want to make sure everyone has these 7 down before we move forward, so any reinforcements at home would be great!
  • We enjoyed making pancakes to spell out our names today:)
  • We are also continuing through our Three Bears unit, working on the concepts of large, medium and small.

What is your child learning in Math?


  • In math we will be working on creating patterns, focusing on AB patterns by shape and color. 
  • We are also working on our counting; a goal for the end of the year is to count to 100.



Don't forget we will be visiting the "Pumpkin Patch" on Friday.  There will be an early release Friday also due to the end of the first 9 weeks! Time is flying by.

What is your child learning in Math?

We have just completed  Saxon lessons 11-20. We did the following:

  • practiced identifying most and fewest on a graph
  • used positional words and phrases such as over, under, on top of, behind and beside
  • acted out story problems
  • identified circles and rectangles
  • covered a design using pattern blocks
  • wrote the numbers 0, 1 and 2

 

What is your child doing in Language Arts?

We are half way through our The Three Bears unit

  • We have listened to the tale of The Three Bears and have read many versions of the classic story
  • We are learning to compare the size of objects and what words to use to describe them.
  • We have sorted items according to size.
  • We are learning the concept of what over means.

Learning our letters

  • As I am sure you know from your child we are working on differents letters each week.
  • This coming week we will work on the letter Gg.
  • We continue to review A-F as well.

 

Everyone is doing great!  Ask your child to tell you "The Pledge of Alligence" and "the Lord's Prayer"; they are very proud of themselves for mastering both.  Thank you for sharing your children with me.  They are a joy.
